Lotus are beautiful and lovely to have in your water feature. Unfortunately, they do not do well in Central Washington. They do not like wind or long hours of direct sunlight. For success, they need shallow water that does not freeze in the winter, shade, and wind protection. Also, if you put them in a pond with fish, be advised that Lotus cannot tolerate any salt treatments that the fish might need.
Some customers confuse Lotus with Water Lilies, they are not the same plant. Lilies have pads which float on the water and the blooms usually float among the leaves. Lotus leaves and blossoms stand above the water.
